Carmen is an Accredited Practising Dietitian, graduating from the University of Natal, Pietermaritzburg, South Africa in 1999. She worked extensively as a Clinical Dietitian in Hospitals across South Africa and Australia prior to founding Perfect Balance Nutrition.
She is passionate about viewing each person as a whole; designing and applying a meal plan to fit every part of a person's life. This includes the ups and the downs that we all experience, understanding that the perfect balance means that life is not perfect and we need to be flexible in obtaining and maintaining health.
Carmen's particular fields of interest include working with people overcoming eating disorders and also sports nutrition. She has over 10 years experience as a qualified fitness and aerobics instructor, giving her a unique understanding and insight into the role of nutrition in all aspects of sports, strength training and body image.
"I love being able to show people that what they previously thought was impossible is not only possible, but also achievable and sustainable in the long term. I focus on what people can do, which empowers them to do more and work on eradicating the negative thought patterns that often plague people around food, nutrition and body image."
Jillian is an experienced Accredited Practising Dietitian with over thirty years as a senior dietetic clinician and clinical educator in large teaching hospitals including St Vincent's, the Alfred and Southern Health Networks. In addition, Jillian is a mentor to both new graduates and experienced dietitians.
Jillian joined the Perfect Balance Nutrition team in 2012 because of their commitment to using evidence based medical nutrition therapy to assist clients in achieving their personal health goals. She consults across a wide range of nutrition related health problems including her special interests in the areas of Coeliac Disease and other gastrointestinal conditions, mental health nutrition and food allergy and intolerance.
"The most satisfying aspect of my job is helping clients find nutrition related solutions that suit their personal circumstances."
